About Thomas Media Group

Thomas Media Group, LLC, publishers of the Black Pages USA directories, has successfully promoted minority business expositions for the past twenty years. Known as the “Black Expo”, the one-day event has been held in Columbia, S.C. (eighteen years), Charleston, S.C. (sixteen years), Jacksonville, FL (fourteen years), Greenville, S.C. (four years) attracting over 800 exhibitors and 85,000 visitors. This concept was taken from Black Expo USA which was a national event that traveled the country and no longer exists. “Black Expos” are successfully held in cities such as Chicago, New York, and Indianapolis. Black Expo is the largest event of its kind directly targeting the African-American community.

Black Expo operates under Black Pages International’s non-profit status whose mission is to educate, enlighten, and empower the community.

Darrin Thomas is a native of Florence, South Carolina and currently resides in Columbia. Mr. Thomas is a graduate of the University Of South Carolina School of Business where he received his undergraduate degree in Marketing and Management. Prior to his entrepreneurial career, Xerox Corporation employed Mr. Thomas as a Marketing Representative in Greenville, South Carolina.

Mr. Thomas currently serves on the board of directors for the local Boy Scouts of America, Wachovia Bank-Midlands Advisory Board, YES Carolina, Coker College Board of Trustees, Palmetto Health Foundation Board, SCANA Corporation Advisory Board, and the USC School of Business Partnership Foundation Board of Advisors. He is a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Savannah Chapter-National Association of Guardsmen, Alpha Iota Boule-Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, member of the Columbia Rotary Club and serves as Vice President of the Indian Waters Council Boy Scouts of America. He is also a vigil honor member of Santee Lodge 116 – Order of the Arrow.

Darrin is an active member of Francis Burns United Methodist Church and is married to Kela Evans Thomas, formerly of Orangeburg, South Carolina. They have two sons, Todd Asher and Garrison Ervin. He accredits his success to his faith in God, the love of his family and the principle of relationship building.
